Alongside my own painting practice, I create and host creative experiences that bring people together through art.
From relaxed painting workshops to specially designed events in inspiring locations, each experience offers the opportunity to explore your creativity, learn something new and create a piece of artwork to take home.
Drawing on over 15 years of teaching experience and my background as a professional artist, I guide participants through the process in an approachable and engaging way, making art accessible whether you are picking up a paintbrush for the first time or looking to develop your skills.
I work with individuals, groups and venues to create experiences tailored to their setting and audience, from intimate creative gatherings to bespoke events for special occasions and corporate groups.

Private Art Tuition
Personalised drawing and painting tuition with Nicole Porter
I offer private art tuition from my studio within The Nicole Porter Gallery in Aberdeen, as well as from my home studio in Inverurie.
With over fifteen years of teaching experience, a track record of students achieving Grade-A results, and a Gold Award from the International Alliance of Young Artists, I bring a high level of experience and commitment to every session. I also teach as an Engage Tutor at Gray’s School of Art.
I offer individual tuition for artists of different ages, abilities and experience, from those developing their foundational skills to students working towards formal qualifications or preparing for further study.
I’m also qualified to support young artists working towards their Arts Award, a nationally recognised accreditation by Trinity College London that helps young people develop their creativity, confidence and leadership skills.
About the Sessions
Every session is tailored to the individual, taking into account their experience, interests and goals. You can book a single session for focused guidance, or arrange ongoing tuition with a structured programme of exercises and projects to build your skills over time.
Areas of Support
- Portfolio preparation for art school and further or higher education applications
- Qualifications support, including SQA, International Baccalaureate, HNC, HND and degree-level study
- Drawing and painting instruction, from foundational techniques to more advanced practice
- Artistic development, including critiques, composition and guidance in developing your own artistic voice
- History of art and contextual research
- Painting preparation, including canvas stretching, priming, materials and photographing artwork
- Studio design and layout, including equipment, lighting and sourcing suppliers
Locations & Fees
Tuition is available at The Nicole Porter Gallery on King Street, Aberdeen, on Saturdays, and at my home studio in Inverurie on Wednesday evenings.
Private tuition: £35 per hour

Painting Workshops
An Artistic Afternoon and Fine Dining Experience at The Marcliffe
Discover the joy of painting in the elegant surroundings of The Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen. Led by Nicole, these guided painting events invite you to create your own artwork in a relaxed and sociable setting, with step-by-step instruction and everything you need to get started.
A creative experience to enjoy with friends, celebrate a special occasion or simply try something new.
Kitchen Table Studio Group
A small-group studio experience in Inverurie, bringing people together around the kitchen table to draw, paint and explore their creativity.
These relaxed sessions offer time and space to experiment, develop your skills and enjoy making art in a friendly, supportive environment, guided by Nicole.
